Third-party property damage
Third-party property damage is loss or damage caused to another person’s vehicle, or to other property such as a fence or shopfront, by someone else’s driving.
It is handled as its own claim against the at-fault driver’s insurer, separate from any bodily injury claim, and is explained further under a property damage claim. Malaysian compulsory motor insurance is primarily aimed at death and injury, so property damage cover can depend more on the specific policy terms.
If you were both injured and had property damaged in the same accident, expect the two parts of the claim to be assessed differently.
A pedestrian’s damaged belongings, such as a phone or a bicycle struck in a collision, can also fall under this category depending on the circumstances of the accident.
