Sessions Court

The Sessions Court is a Malaysian subordinate court that hears the great majority of civil claims, including almost every road accident claim regardless of its value.

Ordinarily the Sessions Court handles claims above the Magistrates’ Court limit and up to a set ceiling, but motor accident claims are a special exception with unlimited jurisdiction there.^[1] That is why a serious injury claim worth well over that ceiling can still be filed in the Sessions Court rather than the High Court.

Filing in the right court from the start avoids delay, and most claims never reach a full trial in any court because they settle beforehand.
