Quantum
Quantum is the legal term for the amount of compensation a claim is worth once liability is settled.
Working out quantum means adding up every head of loss that applies to you: pain and suffering, proven expenses, lost income and, where relevant, future care or reduced earning capacity. Each head is supported by its own evidence, so a claim with thorough medical and financial records tends to reflect the real loss more accurately than one without.
There is no single published number for any injury; quantum is decided on the facts of each case, guided by how Malaysian courts have valued comparable injuries before. Anyone who quotes you a guaranteed figure before your medical picture is complete is getting ahead of the evidence.
How compensation is worked out explains the pieces that make up quantum.
