Medical report

A medical report is a written record from a doctor describing the injuries you suffered, the treatment given and how you are recovering.

It is usually obtained from the government hospital or clinic that treated you first, and it forms the factual backbone of a claim, since compensation for pain, suffering and future care depends heavily on what it documents. A brief or incomplete report can genuinely understate an injury that a fuller one would capture properly.

A general medical report is often followed later by a more detailed specialist report once your condition has stabilised enough to assess its lasting effects.
