Malaysian Motor Insurance Pool (MMIP)
The Malaysian Motor Insurance Pool (MMIP) is insurance for vehicle owners who cannot get cover on the open market, such as owners of very old or high-risk vehicles.
Insurers set up MMIP in 1992 so that every vehicle owner could still meet Malaysia’s compulsory insurance requirement, and a claims administrator handles bodily-injury claims on MMIP policies.[1] If the vehicle that hit you happened to be insured through MMIP, your claim against its insurer works the same way as any other insurer claim.
MMIP is not a compensation fund for victims of uninsured drivers; that limited role belongs to the Motor Insurers’ Bureau, a separate body with its own rules.
How a third-party bodily injury claim works explains the claim itself, whichever insurer is involved.
