JSPT (Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department)

JSPT, short for Jabatan Siasatan dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik or the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, is the PDRM department responsible for investigating road accidents and compiling national accident statistics.

JSPT also identifies high-risk stretches of road, sometimes called blackspots, and runs targeted enforcement during festive travel periods.^[1] Its Kuala Lumpur data feeds into the accident blackspots picture for the city.

For an individual claim, JSPT’s role is mostly investigative rather than something a claimant deals with directly.

It works alongside the district-level traffic branches that individual claimants deal with directly, feeding local data into the national picture. Its published statistics are also used by other agencies planning road safety improvements.

A claimant does not usually need to contact JSPT directly, since the local IPD or traffic branch handling the accident is the normal point of contact throughout a claim.
