IPD (district police headquarters)

An IPD, short for Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah or district police headquarters, is the main police station for a district, and it is normally where an accident causing injury or property damage is formally reported.

Each IPD has its own traffic branch that investigates accidents within that district, which is why the right time and place to report can depend on where the crash happened. A minor accident with no injury may instead qualify for online reporting.

Knowing your district’s IPD in advance can save confusion in the stressful hours right after a crash.

Larger districts may also have smaller police stations under the same IPD, so it is worth asking which one specifically handles traffic reports if you are unsure. Staff there can usually also advise on the sketch plan process.
