High Court

The High Court is the superior civil court in Malaysia, generally hearing claims above the value handled by the subordinate courts.

For most types of civil dispute, a High Court claim starts once the sum involved passes a set threshold.^[1] Road accident claims are an exception to this pattern, because the Sessions Court keeps unlimited jurisdiction over them regardless of value, so even a very serious injury claim is usually filed there rather than in the High Court.

The High Court still matters for road accident cases through its appeal role, since a decision from the Sessions Court can be appealed to it.
